The Art of Emotional Regulation
Is your child having temper tantrums, high emotions, melt downs, withdraws, upset, shots down? This is very normal. Your child is just developing the skills to understand and navigate emotions. Your child is learning how to regulate emotions from adults around them and through the relationship with trusted adults. Parents and caregivers will play an important role in a child’s social emotional learning. Watch the video below for how you can foster a healthy emotional regulation development. ES (K-5) MS (6-8) |

School Based Therapy
TCGIS is cooperating with a private therapist to provide easier access to therapy for students. We know the need for therapy is great and that getting kids to and from therapy requires them to miss school. School-based therapy takes out the commute while providing students with easier access to the important therapies that are essential for some kids. Our provider, Tara Marshall, has been a licensed therapist for many years and is excited to offer this service to our students. Please see this document from the provider we are working with to learn more.
Why SEL?Academic learning happens best when students feel secure and competent. SEL is how children learn to feel safe and competent at TCGIS.
Through SEL our students grow skills on how to be a part of the TCGIS school community which helps them to develop a sense of belonging. A child’s experience at school will be more positive and the brain can focus better on academic success when they know how to navigate school, their own wellbeing, relationships and learning. Any settings in our society have certain expectations in order for everyone to feel well and that they belong. Children learn how to be in their families first, the first and smallest community they start with. Now we are helping them to learn to do school. At TCGIS they have an opportunity to grow their skills into becoming a active responsible participant in creating a kind, safe empathic, curious, and respectful community and learning environment. We are committed to helping all students do their best at learning together to fulfill our vision of Educating multilingual world citizens who listen to others, see others, and think and act with an open mind. A benefit of SEL is also that it is supporting overall mental health. The family continues to play a vital role in a child’s social emotional development and we partner with you in your child’s learning journey. |
