Host an Intern

The Intern Program at TCGIS is an essential part of our German immersion school curriculum. Interns come from Germany, Austria and Switzerland and bring young, dynamic energy, pedagogical experience, and valuable cultural expertise from German speaking countries to the classrooms. They build bridges between TCGIS students and families and their connection to the German language and culture.

Hosting an Intern

We are seeking families to host interns from mid-August 2022 to mid-January 2023.
Don't be shy! Please consider:
  • Your child(ren) directly benefit(s) from interns socially and academically
, and develops a personal connection to the German language and culture
  • Interns consider a host family experience one of the most rewarding ways to learn about American culture and vice versa

  • Interns are young adults who often become part of the family, like an older cousin
The basic requirements to host are:
  • Their own bed and bedroom with a door
  • A full bathroom to use; they can share with family members
  • All meals at home (lunch is provided at school)
  • Transportation to/from school
  • Access to transportation (free time)

Who are the Interns?

  • Between 22-28 years old
  • Native speakers of German
  • From Germany, Austria or Switzerland
  • In a teaching-degree program at a university; international internships are usually required
  • Often between their Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees
  • Curious, friendly and eager to learn about US American culture
