The TCGIS PTO Community Auction is the PTO’s largest fundraiser of the year. The online auction includes a huge selection of community-hosted events and items for sale (including baked goods and handmade offerings). We combine the Fall Strudel Sale with the Auction, typically held in October/November. Our 2017 auction and strudel sale raised over $13,000.
This year’s PTO Community Auction and Strudel Sale will be held October 24 – November 2, 2019. The auction committee is looking for donations of items and events to include in the Auction, along with volunteers to help run the online auction.
Please visit the Auction website to learn more about what it is, how (and what) to donate, and volunteer opportunities.
The PTO collects Box Tops on behalf of the school. The Box Tops for Education program adds up to over $1,000 each year for TCGIS. Box Tops are submitted in groups of 25, either via the collection sheets or clear plastic bags; completed sheets and bags of 25 can be submitted via the classroom or dropped at the front office.
We do have small prizes for each student who turns in a collection sheet or plastic bag. The first class to reach 500 Box Tops will win a prize for the entire room. So clip those Box Tops, check the expiration date and send them to school.

Davanni's Pizza Night
Davanni’s donates a portion of their sales to TCGIS on designated evenings. Be social and join other TCGIS families at the restaurant, or take your meal home for a quiet night in. Join us on:
The Octoberfest Fun Run/Walk 2019. Held the morning of Sunday, September 21, this all-family 5K will be held around Como Lake and welcomes both runners and walkers. Proceeds from the race will go towards safety locks on classroom doors.

Grade Level and Regional Events
The PTO strives to support the development of community relationships within each grade level, within the same geographic region, as well as across the entire school.
Regional picnic potluck
Held at the beginning of the school year, regional picnics are roughly organized around the four bus routes, and help you find other TCGIS parents in your area. Join us at these potluck picnics to you and discuss carpooling, play dates, and other types of meet-ups.
Grade level events
Kindergarten Play Date: Start meeting new families and let the kids play outside of school hours.
Game Night, grades 1-3: This evening event brings TCGIS families together for fun and games. Just bring your favorite games and snacks to share. Learn a new game, meet a new friend, have fun. Simple!
Also available for each grade are “Play Date Kits” and “Smores Kits” donated by the PTO. These kits are available through your classroom contact (Elternkontakt or EK).

Staff and Intern Support Activities
The PTO puts on a number of staff appreciation activities throughout the year to show our support for teachers and other staff. We provide pizza for parent-teacher conferences, offer a luncheon each December, and have put on a variety of events to show our appreciation -- ranging from gift cards to a yogurt bar and chair massages.
Find the dates for all staff appreciation events.
The PTO sells traditional German-style strudel (a layered, flakey pastry with sweet or savory filling) made by Ruhland’s Strudel Haus, frozen and ready to bake when you need it. We offer this sale during the holiday season and in the spring, because TCGIS folks just can't get enough strudel!
