Internationale Vergleichsarbeiten (IVA)
As an accredited PASCH and DSD School we also offer Internationale Vergleichsarbeit (IVA) Levels A1 (grade 3), A2 (grade 6), and the Deutsches Sprachdiplom DSD I (grade 8). The A1 and A2 exams measure language skills that correspond to the six-level scale of competence in the Common European Framework of References for Languages. The DSD 1 is an officially recognized exam providing proof of the required language skills needed to enroll into a preparatory college in Germany. The level of this exam is a B1 level. The exam is sent to and assessed in Germany, a representative of the ZfA will be present during the verbal exam. This test is conducted world-wide. At the end of 8th grade, students could choose to continue studying German at St. Paul Central High School and take the DSD II exam. TCGIS are also prepared to take the AP German Exam and SAT Subject Test German which are administered through local high schools and/or the Germanic-American Institute in St Paul. |
SOPA (Student Oral Proficiency Assessment)
The SOPA is an innovative language proficiency assessment instrument designed to allow students to demonstrate their highest level of performance in speaking (further broken down into oral fluency, grammar, vocabulary) and listening. These interactive listening and speaking assessments are designed for children who are learning a second language in a school setting. They include hands-on activities and are conducted entirely in the target language. Students are assessed in pairs by two trained test administrators and are encouraged to interact with each other as well as with the test administrators during the assessment process. The focus of the assessment is to determine what students can do with the target language. More

FAST (Formative Assessments for Teachers)
The Formative Assessment System for Teachers (FAST™) is a system adopted by TCGIS to support screening and progress monitoring processes. The FastBridge system’s multi-source, multi-method approach provides accurate results in half the time as other solutions. Data are highly predictive of future outcomes so you can provide the evidence-based instruction and interventions that students truly need, when they need them. We use 5 of these assessments at TCGIS: earlyMath, earlyReading, CBMreading, aMath, and aReading. More |
