Welcome to the 2018/19 School Year
This school year, we welcome for the 14th time a group of new kindergarteners to begin their language immersion journey. In September, for the 7th time, a group of students from Germany will arrive as part of our 8th grade's Capstone Exchange Program. Great beginnings and great endings can be huge difference makers in the quality of our experiences and if the vibe and feel of back to school night was any indicator, this year has started strong.
Like everything we do at TCGIS, the Kindergarten beginning and the Capstone ending arise out of and bring us back to our school community's stated, shared values:
Curiosity - Our littlest ones will be learning with, about, and from others who come from another culture or cultures - and that by choice!
Kindness - Our biggest ones will welcome German visitors to our homes, our school, our community and in May, the favor will be returned.
Challenge & Support - Whether it's the very first days of their school careers or the transatlantic, interpersonal adventure that concludes their TCGIS journey, we challenge and support our learners with the intent of helping them become global citizens that seek to understand others' perspectives.
Community - We do this with each other and for each other.
Intercultural Engagement - We reject the bubble, reach out, embrace difficulty and enrich our lives by welcoming others in.
Certainly very important has been the assembly of our staff for a new school year. Direct recruitment from overseas and connections to Concordia Language Villages played key roles this year. We are also pleased to inform you that we now have TWO former interns teaching on our staff!
Mit Vorfreude - With 'pre-joy' into the new school year
